Is it even possible to love more than one person at a time? To what extent do you love both equally, or does one hold more significance for you? Come with me; I have ideas.
Do you think it’s possible to love more than one person at once? That’s the short and easy explanation for. Yes. We know this for sure because of all the romantic comedies we’ve watched.
It’s completely feasible to love two different people at the same time. Not often, but it does happen on occasion. The love you feel isn’t limited to a single individual. Love is like having lots of room in your heart for all of your loved ones, including your significant other. Is the love still the same?
It’s true that many of us succeed at monogamy, as we only fall in love with one person at a time, as monogamy and the majority of society instruct us to do. However, it’s possible to love more than one person at a time. As a result of social pressures and our own ambitions, it’s not uncommon for one or both partners in a romantic relationship to experience heartbreak.
Is it possible to love more than one person at a time?
The concept of loving two individuals simultaneously is difficult to grasp. It smells of dishonesty and wrongdoing, if not outright cheating. Nonetheless, this is not always the situation. It’s possible to fall in love with two people, one for their integrity and goodness and the other for the intensity of your feelings for them.
People may claim that if you love two people at the same time, you don’t actually love any of them, but that’s not how love works. There are no exact formulas for love because it is not a physical phenomenon. It’s a tangled web that might make you feel passionately for more than one person at a time.
It’s possible to love one person while also falling in love with someone else. It’s possible you’re seeing multiple people at once. Alternatively, you may be falling for someone fresh even while you harbor unresolved feelings for a former flame.
Is it so difficult to understand now that you put it that way?
It’s impossible to love both of them at the same time. How, pray tell, do two people fall in love with one another? How do you keep loving someone while also loving someone else?
Unfortunately, love isn’t something you can force. To fall in love is a natural human experience. The answer can be found in the term itself. When you’re “falling” in love, you’re completely out of control.
Two individuals falling in love at once isn’t something most people prepare for, except in polyamorous relationships. How? A person you’ve just met isn’t usually the one you end up falling in love with. Slowly but surely, you come to know them and develop feelings for them. There are countless ways this can occur.
If you’re lucky, you might find a funny coworker while you’re already in a committed relationship with someone else. You spend time together, even if just accidentally, and develop feelings for each other, leading you to fall in love with yourselves.
Or perhaps you still harbor feelings for your exes. You may have moved on from your ex months ago, but your heart may still ache when you meet someone new and find yourself falling in love. Also, it’s possible to develop feelings for two persons that you’re just dating casually at the same time.
Because we’ve been taught that monogamy is the only acceptable way to date or love, it might feel startling and inappropriate to feel the same way about two people at once. However, when you apply some self-reflection, you’ll see the logic in this.
Perhaps you were secretly in love with two different people. That you have feelings for more than one person is not evidence of infidelity or playing the field. Having feelings for more than one person suggests you haven’t completely moved on from your prior loves as you begin a new one.
Consider the plight of a widower as a sad but instructive example. Will they ever get over their lost partner? Even after marriage, they’ll always adore each other. Doesn’t it make more sense in this context?
For what reason must a decision be made?
When you find yourself torn between two loves, realize that you must ultimately choose. You might not have to decide if your feelings for the other person are platonic rather than romantic. But how would your significant other react?
If you can’t make a choice, don’t keep both folks around. That wouldn’t be fair. There’s no doubt that you’re torn, but even though your feelings for each of them are distinct, you can only be with one of them. Choose the option that brings you the most joy, but realize that once you’ve made your mind up, it’s made.
Is it possible to be in the same room with the other person still? You and I can get along. That’s not easy to do if you’ve developed feelings for them, but it’s the only way to avoid cheating in the long run. Whether you’re willing to recognize your sentiments or not, you should never let them cause harm to your real-life significant other.
Do you think it’s possible to love more than one person at once? Definitely. You have to ask yourself, “Do you want to be?” Perhaps, but probably not.
